AV Master, also known as
AntivirusMaster, Antivirus Master or AVMaster, is a rogue anti-spyware program and a clone of
Antivirus 2008. AV Master may infect your computer system with the help of either the Trojan
Zlob or
Vundo which are most commonly found bundled on fake video codecs. Once your infected with AV Master, it will prompt numerous fake popups and system notifications that interfere with your workflow. AV Master's fake messages are shown to push you into buying AV Master's licensed version. AV Master's messages inform you that the computer system is infected with a large amount of spyware, one the messages says:
"WARNING! Attack Detected.
Antivirus Master has detected possible harmful actions from remote computer on the network. Blaster/Sasser.variant worm behaviour detected. You have to register your copy to get full protection feature set and an ability to defeat upcoming threats. To begin online registration, please click "Activate now" button below."
AV Master's creators have designed these messages only to scare you into spending money on a product that doesn't give what is alleges to deliver. AV Master is in the same trojan family as
Advanced Antivirus,
Vista Antivirus 2008, and
Ultimate Antivirus 2008. AV Master may launch every time you boot your computer.

WinAntiVir, also known as Win AntiVir or
Win Antivir 2008, is a rogue anti-spyware program and part of the
XP Antivirus and
WinAntivirusPro family. WinAntiVir was created to trick users to purchase its full version to supposedly remove spyware threats. WinAntiVir may install in your computer, with the aid of a Trojan called
Zlob which is most commonly found on fake video codec downloads. As soon as you're infected with Zlob, it may flood your system with popups and fake warning alerts stating that your computer is infected with spyware. WinAntiVir may use its system scanner to emulate a scan and report a rogue list of spyware infections as a result.
