Antivirus XP, also known as AntivirusXP, is a rogue anti-spyware program that uses false spyware results to urge you to download Antivirus XP's full commercial version. Antivirus XP is a clone of Antivirus 2008. Antivirus XP may be downloaded and installed onto your computer via a ZlobZlob Codec installer found on adult websites. Once Zlob is installed, it will prompt pop ups disguised as system notifications that lead to websites with rogue anti-spyware programs. Antivirus XP will also run a scan of your computer, and will then offer you to remove the parasites found with the purchase of the full Antivirus XP version. It is recommended not to click on any link provided by Antivirus XP.

PCAntispy, also known as PC-Antispy and PC Anti Spy, is a rogue anti-spyware program that sells itself as a spyware removal superhero under the slogan: "Protecting Against Intruders". Ironically, PCAntispy is an intruder itself. PCAntispy is a clone of PCAntispyware and will use any means necessary to lure you into buying the full PCAntispy program. PCAntispy may install on your computer without your knowledge with the aide of Trojan Zlob or Vundo. In no time, Zlob will flood your system with unwanted popups stating that your computer is infected with numerous spyware. PCAntispy has the ability to run a fake computer system scan and display messages stating that you need to register for PCAntispy's "licensed" program to solve your spyware problems.

PCTotalDefender, also known as PC Total Defender, is a rogue anti-spyware program related to AntiSpywareMaster, Antispywaresuite, AntivirusForAll, AVsystemcare and WinSecureAv, just to mention a few. PCTotalDefender infects your computer system with the help of Trojans (such as Zlob or Vundo), that may have come bundled in a fake video codec download. As soon as PCTotalDefender installs in your computer, it will use it's fake system scanner to display false positives which work as an incentive to push you to buy PCTotalDefender's "licensed" version. PCTotalDefender's displays may be titled: "System Status: Your system is not fully protected". PCTotalDefender will also prompt bogus popups and system notifications. Do not click on any link provided by PCTotalDefender. If you click on the link provided, you'll be redirected to PCTotalDefender's website or to another rogue website where you'll be encouraged to purchase PCTotalDefender's rogue anti-spyware program.

A company called NebuAd (free advice to them: think of a less sinister name) is under fire right now because its software tracks you everywhere you go on the internet, then records that info and puts it all together and to sell to advertisers. And—surprise—the people who run NebuAd used to be in the honorable business of crafting adware, that launches deceptive pop-up ads on your screen. Useful members of humanity! Lots of marketers would really love to use this stuff, but they’re not sure if the public will go for it. So how is NebuAd assuaging privacy concerns?

It looks like Microsoft is definitely taking some good measures to make Windows Vista less of a seive than previous versions. I just got back from spending an hour and a half getting spyware off someone's machine.
