The simple act of using a computer for email or the Internet can mobilise armies of hidden agents and criminals out to subvert the system and business, the OECD says in a study on cyber crime.

Microsoft's Windows AntiSpyware technology has been renamed "Windows Defender" and has been expanded to detect and remove rootkits, keystroke loggers and other forms of malware.

Analysts at security vendor PC Tools today revealed that Russia has superseded the US and China as the world's highest producer of spyware and viruses, with Russia now accounting for 27.89% of malware while China accounts for 26.52% and the US 9.98%.

We have learnt quite a lot about Windows 7 this week, and one of the things was that Windows 7 would not get a new kernel .
